A Primary Study and play center is conducted for local children of age group between two and a half years and five years. The activity center functions regularly between 9.30 am to 3.30 pm expect on holidays. There are around 70 children from the nearby areas who come from poor families who can not afford to pay for their education. There are also children who have lost their parents. They are picked up by a vehicle from their areas daily in the morning and dropped back in the evening session.

Summer Camp - 2010 - Report









Children's start their days with regular prayers and simple physical exercises. The children are taught with basic alphabets in English and Tamil, names of days, months, parts of body, fruits, vegetables, flowers, birds and animals. They are taught numbers, quantities and so on by using simpler flash cards and other such materials with basic mathematics of additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions.



They are trained with basic manners, disciplines and behaviors by way of several video presentations, short stories, rhymes and animated films. They are exposed to sanitation, cleanliness, nutrition and hygiene. They are introduced with environmental details in simpler languages and by way of pictures, photos, puzzles and small play activities.

They are allowed and guided to play several small and simple games that would also be useful in their behavioral aspects. They are allowed to do small jobs like watering plants, keeping their sandals in order and so on. They are trained with songs, drawings, paintings and moral stories and they are allowed to make their own paintings, reciting songs and telling stories. They are exposed to social orders and civilization by way of different pictures and songs on freedom fighters, positions and so on.

There are evening classes and tuition's being conducted for the students who struggle to perform in their regular schooling with low marks, students from poor families and some of them without parents and they come from various nearby schools. They are guided and allowed to use the library for reading books and viewing videos on various topics in an organized manner. They are trained to use the computers with basic applications and they are trained to use the Internet to access e-mails and browse the Internet for any specific information.



The classes are conducted to clear their doubts in their subjects and to guide them trough various charts, work sheets, study materials, plastic and clay models and so on to enable them perform better in their schools. They are also allowed to access through computers and TV programs to attain general knowledge on various subjects. Special care is given to improve their language to read and write without mistakes, hand-writing and communication skills in different respects. Science camps, Creativity stimulation camps and social awareness camps are conducted to give them expertise and to enhance their capabilities of learning. They are trained with more than 70 simple and carefully designed scientific experiments to get a profound understanding on various fundamental scientific concepts.


They are allowed and guided to play indoor games like chess, snake and ladder game and carom-board and certain small yogic exercises are taught to improve their physical flexibility, memory powers and mind strengths.



They are engaged in several group activities like group discussions and debates to have mutual understandings and better awareness on issues and certain healthy competitions are regularly conducted on communication, speech, art, painting, handy-crafts, essay writing, poem writing, performing small skits and small debates and so on and prizes are awarded to good performers.

They are taken to other schools to observe and grasp various activities, disciplines, manners and method of teaching and learning.



Cultural programs are conducted on all the occasions like Independence day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Teacher's day and such other important days and the students are also made to involve in group activities on such occasions.
